The Dream Bedroom
cultivating a sense of comfort and beauty is something I take seriously
Here is how I would cultivate parts of my dream bedroom.
Starting off with the inspiration and design, the best kind of rooms that make me feel good all tend to have one thing in common and that is, creating the perfect amount of sensory to experience.
Sometimes I say to myself “What is that smell?” Or I’ve noticed how drawn I am to the natural textures, colors, lighting, trim details, and flooring. These characteristics are the catalyst for the room to feel captivating.
Colors I am into for the bedroom:
Farrow and Ball makes most of my favorite paint colors. I love Wimborne White- this beautiful off white carries soft yellowish undertones that make you feel like you’re in a Nancy Meyers movie or the french countryside. It feels understated and soft yet it is never icy or grey. Which some whites can have the tendency to do. A favorite choice for many is to use this color in north-facing rooms to bring back warmth and a bright feeling.
Two other great options from F&B:
pointing (similar to wimborne).
cabbage white (a green + blue focused white)
Blue on the walls:
I currently have Borrowed Light on the ceiling in my studio apartment and Parma Gray on the walls. For this space I was really drawn to creating a safe haven almost like you’re in a dream state. Living in the city is chaotic and exhausting at times. I wanted to feel like I was falling into a cloud somewhere very quiet and these blues from Farrow and Ball helped me achieve just that.

Bedding
Finding the right bedding is a daunting task— at least for me. I was lucky enough to receive one of my favorite gifts for my Mom for Christmas a few years ago. A Matouk pink scalloped duvet. While pink is definitely not my first choice for bedding… Beggars cannot be choosers especially when receiving and I have it on m bed as I type this.
My mom also does the Scandinavian sleep method: where 2 duvets are used for sleeping, that way temperature can be individualized. I would love to adopt this tradition to my way of sleeping when the time comes, but for now I am just focusing on finding comfortable bedding that I love within a reasonable price range that I have yet to find the answer to.
I love the idea of an interesting light fixture. Adding personality here especially in a bedroom, is a touch of mine I love to include when designing a space. During my design process for my new bedroom in Connecticut, I am looking to add a chandelier that is antique where the light reflects through glass beautifully. This vision board above is a loose reference of the story I would like it to reflect. Natural, serene, and extremely personal. I cannot wait to take you guys through the finishing details this spring!
I love surreal pieces that allude to a nostalgic point of time, or a fixture that just makes you feel excited about being in the room. These delicious 19th century Italian chandeliers take me to that place that feels free and inviting. I will be showing these to my sister Natalia who is a practicing herbalist. She loves plants, and is so in tune with them in her daily life that adding this little detail may just be the cherry on top to her carriage house.
Details to not be forgotten:
A wastebasket you can actually stand looking at! Something that may feel silly to elevate but is a game changer when taking out the trash and being comfortable in your space. A room that I love to live in everything inside of it stands for something and bring its own intention with its beauty.
